Legal regulations
In the following, all legal basics relevant to the topic of near-natural revegetation are presented. The global framework for this is the Convention on Biological Diversity. At the European level, the Bern Convention (on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats) and the Habitats Directive (Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the Conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora) have to be complied with. The Federal Nature Conservation Act provides the framework for Germany and contains important regulations on national level. Furthermore, the "Nationale Strategie zur biologischen Vielfalt" (national biodiversity strategy) and the "Erhaltungsmischungsverordnung" (ordinance on the marketing of conservation seed mixtures) are also described in more detail.
